The Delhi effect (An outsider's view)

It starts my experience moving from outer state to Delhi due to job offer as a dream or fulfilling their parent's expectations only to realize the rat race reality, just like many youngsters. I felt Delhi did complete justice in knocking my ego and peeled my all-outer identities like a banana and gave me ADHD or PTSD triggering my past wounds or my shadow which I was running away from, my own shadow. WHAT is the end result of constantly trying to keep everything together? A burnout leading to a multitude of mistakes, you cannot even explain it to others. After COVID I was always trying to protect my mental health until Delhi hit! YES! delhi hit like COVID release to me. I was in my own world and then I have to adapt to the world again. A peak of anxiety and broken heart to see people in pain and myself stuck cause I was interpreting and absorbing too much without even trying. Delhi is not for beginners as they say, you are in a survival mode if you are not used to the thrill of fe...

An unsteady home

A person with mental health issues is not a sufferer alone. His loved ones and family also bear the consequences. The conflicts inside the mind of the mentally unhealthy person are projected outside. What could be a happy and healthy life turns out into an everyday struggle of avoiding and thinking. In reality, life becomes a misery. Where the world moves fast and forward, but for these people, being surrounded by taboos and judgments, it is like running against the water currents, with resistant waves of anxiety and self-doubt swallowing them. Consequently, forcing them to pause every time and give a third thought to every small decision or act. Every new change can feel like a cliff to climb off. We don't realise how lucky we are when we can manage our thoughts and are not burdened by them. We only realise when we empathise with those who bear them. Oftentimes, these mental issues are unidentified and dismissed as personality traits unless they spiral up to become a bigger issue....

RADHA IS YOU (a religious perspective)

We all have some kind of space or emptiness inside of us which we keep on filling with our career, gym or relationships but it never gets fulfilled. It is a never-ending circle of desires which we crave for our whole lives. The world can never provide us the truly fulfilling love and thus we struggle with ourselves at the end of time. Radha never united with Krishna at least in this world. Still, they were considered one or were already one that's why never united with each other according to perspectives of some spirituals. They both were inseparable but crossed their paths differently.  I think Radha is you, me and all of us, who wanted to unite with unfathomable love but are struck here in this world. And it is painful to live in temporary short pleasures of life without knowing what we are and following the ways of the world just because the world has always been like that. The Radha is you because it feels it is in agony as it can never feel God's presence but kno...

Teaching Kids to be Kind

Modern Parenting skills focuses on being friendlier to your kids while dealing with their problems so that they can easily share with their parents and do not put themselves in a bigger mess. Parents are now being open as compared to the past such that they are teaching their kids about sex education and learning new things from them about technology or modern trends which one could not even imagine decades back.  My mother taught me about sex education when I think I was in class sixth or seventh. But, when I haven't entered my teens and was a bit small to know the stuff and surprisingly discovered pads in my home, I asked my mother what these are, and she came up with a quick reply of "adult diapers." This scenario could make me smile till date! Parents teach us about family values and social skills but what they generally forget is teaching their children to be kind and treating others with kindness.  The parents do their duty well in most of the cases to protect the...

The Indian Competition System

Even after getting admission in Dental college, a medical aspirant resents and regrets all his years of being unable to crack the NEET UG exam. A UPSC aspirant goes on giving his 7th attempt at the age of 33. This is the sad reality of the cutthroat Indian Competition System that inevitably makes the clearance of exam as an accolade of achievement to be worn and thus get validated by society. It impacts the mental well-being of lakhs of students who sit for these exams and makes them like a horse with blinders just to focus on the target and 'if you fail you are good for nothing' they say. A lot of them are just enrolling in entrance tests due to their parents' aspirations or even when they are unaware of their interests or capabilities. These are the questions to current education system and the society: What about those major proportion who fail?  Are their careers put on secondary options away from the pedestal? Why are they not trained to explore other unconventional o...

Perfectionist attitude: a cursed apple 1.2

Perfectionism is like a cursed apple given to the Snow White by the Witch queen.   Perfection has become an aim due to increase in living standards with time. This attitude is inculcated in individuals as soon as they began their schooling. Soon, this becomes a major issue when they enter adulthood with so many responsibilities and burdens. Now, if they keep on aiming for perfectionism in their work or themselves or others, they will waste time, money and other resources.  Apart from that, being a perfectionist can sometimes even make you a ' maniac' with those burdening expectations which can't be fulfilled. This can spiral down to stress, anxiety and depression. At this hour,  ask yourself :  "Is that really important to be on top? Am I sacrificing my mental peace and happiness to get the perfect work, score or relationship?" "What is perfect in the very first place to start with?" In reality it's ...

The way of steam

Image
" I have been overthinking so much, cooking up my stories... far from reality, have lost what is even in my sight and the moment... which I know will never be back... Oh, I've been so messed up...." What is the way of life? What in the world are religions or scriptures trying to teach? Out of all the philosophies today, I wish to talk about the fundamental thing that all religions and beliefs focus upon that is BEING TOGETHER . It's so simple message yet difficult. If everyone would be same as you and me, there won't be fun! We all have different mindsets, and we are here to adjust in this world. The people of God talk about being honest, truthful and kind in our deeds, and preach about not doing bad karma.  What is it all for?  To live in harmony for us and others.  " Fear the God, your life is like a steam of water, "  they say.  Even I don't think myself as a faithful servant of God, but I do believe that preaching religion is good as long as it ...

Listen to your heart

We all struggle between whether to listen to heart or mind.  When mind is full of negative thoughts it is always better to choose what the heart says, what the heart wants to feel.  The gloomy days are over now, rise up and heal. When you are doubting yourself, you are making your soul feel powerless and deep inside you are hurting yourself. Sometimes accepting the reality is the only option, you can't always run away or look upto everyone for help. All you can do is look within and trust the process.

Searching for love

Even surrounded by almost everyone you might feel so lonely at times. Sometimes you are just tired of everything. Waiting for just one magic to happen. Somebody to fill your heart with love. Love is all what you hope for. Love that binds everything. You see love in everyone's heart but not yours. You are searching for somebody to uplift your heart. And in your search you stumble, you break and you fall. You ask yourself again and again how can I love where I was broken. How can I forget all the hate. How could I hate and how could I forget what I valued. I had lost myself all in vain.

God Is An Algorithm

Image
"It all starts with believing in our destiny that whatever has been done is good for us and whatever has not been done is still better ." Whenever I look upon my current life compared to my past it always seems better. I won't say everyone to start comparing their past with present because you may have gain some and may have lost the other but rather state that, gratitude considerably leads to happiness and contentment. My friend jokes about my behaviour of  connecting the dots in everything. Yeah, I won't deny my habit to see patterns in things, people, and life too. But ain't it true, that practicing gratitude removes down a thousand kilo burden upon our lives?  Yesterday, I was looking at a cat in my garden and wondering that this cat could have been my boyfriend at some point of life in the my birth cycle. Now don't ask me why only boyfriend?.. I have an inbuilt romanticism...girls generally have it!  At the same time, I was thankful to be born as a human ...

E-learning: Can it ever replace classrooms?

Image
I t is said that we humans have innate ability to learn. An efficient learning is said when learning inculcates all three factors namely accuracy, speed and retention. Accuracy defines how accurately do learners remember speed defines how soon do learners remembers and retention defines how long do learners remember. Effective learning should also involve all the domains of learning that is cognitive, psychomotor and affective. Cognitive includes thinking, reading ,reasoning ; psychomotor aspect includes performing a procedure and affective domain complexes of emotions. Talking about E-learning whose demand and popularity, is on rise! Oxford Dictionary defines E- learning as " learning conducted via electronic media, typically on the internet." There are several advantages of E-learning. Firstly, it is 'self-paced learning, the student can learn at fast pace or r...

First crush

I  still remember the glimpses with my first crush. We were in same class and section and 'auto-rickshaw' mates too. Going back to class 8th, we weren't friends or even close to it. We were 'enemies' in literal sense. When we were near each other, most of the time he was teasing me and I used to comeback with insulting replies. And while I was insulting him in fit of anger and flames he always used to mumb afterwards but never stopped teasing in the first place. And I always used to say one dialogue to him: Tang mat adaya kar! (Mind your business) I still remember when I was new in school in class 5th he challenged me to do a dance step in morning assembly, I don't know why I remembered this minute detail but I tried to do it at that moment. His teasing was a never ending saga be it in auto or in school. And in the class, when he used to say a single word to tease I would burst upon him in anger and the whole class would have be looking at us as a silent s...

How to use 'defence mechanisms' in a healthy way? 1.1

We all want to live a happier, healthier and satisfied life. It all depends on our perception. No..no..I'm not talking about thousands of reasons which are outside of you (like circumstances, people, time, things) on which you blame why you behaved the way you do. So what are defence mechanisms of our mind? Well, these are like psychological shields against our anxiety or discomfort. Basically, we use it protect ourselves from taking the blame for our wrong acts or the circumstances that have gone wrong for us. Some of the mature defense mechanisms that we may use to protect ourselves from guilt, anxiety or even blaming others and things which are unlikely to go the expected way, these are : 1. Humor Having a sense of humor makes things light and life a little more breathable. Laugh at your own mistakes. :-) 2. Sublimation   (-) ---------->(+) Consciously or unconsiously channeling our instinctual drives into acceptable activities. For instance, agressiveness might...

The Egg Theory

Today's blog post is about a famous short story published  orginally  on galacanet  website by Andy Weir in the year 2009.   This story is a thought provoking read and I guess after reading it you will not be the same as you came. All my purpose of republishing this is that,  you shall take the departure, pain and loss given by others a bit lightly  cause somewhere I believe that  we all are connected. " You are a part of me and I'm a part of you or maybe we are a part of something bigger unit." "The Egg" (by: Andy Weir) You were on your way home when you died. It was a car accident. Nothing particularly remarkable, but fatal nonetheless. You left behind a wife and two children. It was a painless death. The  EMTs  tried their best to save you, but to no avail. Your body was so utterly shattered you were better off, trust me. And that’s when you met me. “What… what happened?” You asked. “Where am I?” “You died,” I said, matte...

Enjoy the little things!

"I have always been in a situation where I have questioned love but it had only brought me inside a dense maze whose treasure or exit is no where in sight." Questioning on love that is where I have fell wrong at times although I still can't stop myself from it. Even if few days has passed in love even if you doubt the future or the lover or you have many unfamiliar doubts about consequences.  Somebody told me once you can't have all the answers at once. Yeah, we all are curious and wandering souls but to the overthinkers I would pass on the same advice that time will definitely reveal your answers. Draining your energy, emotions and time (to which Einstein gave the importance of 4th dimension) is unimportant and even useless.  Someone has once said to me, " If somebody loved you more than infinity then do tell me the new value and tell him that you are lucky. You may like it or not but love will always find a way towards you . And no matter what l...

Know your soulmate!❤

Image
Just like for a successful marriage intimacy  is one of the necessary factors similarily for a healthy relationship ' emotional satisfaction ' is necessary. The relationship goals can be in forming soul connections.  Its a harsh reality we have often seen relationships ending and people breaking because many neglect their partner's emotional needs. I'm not a relationship expert though but an old school romantic who has some idealistic views. Now don't call me an 18th century person like my mum! :P A relationship can be blossoming rather than struggling, but how?-- Before knowing other person's emotional needs you should realise your own emotional needs . Both the partners should balance each other personalities like pieces of puzzle that fit each other and be a like a medium to achieve their life's ultimate purpose. Speaking spiritually, that purpose is for which you are actually made for. The ' one ' is whom, that brings out th...

The only pain in pleasure is the pleasure of the pain

Image
At times one can only leave things upon the time to make them settle down. People like me who have hyperactive and concious nature tend to get unstable mind very quickly. Comparingly, the person who has got calmness and learnt to be alone and enjoy him/her-self has got the 'treasure of life'.         Sometimes it can give you goosebumps while writing your conflicted thoughts out. Conflicts tend to consume time as well as energy. Acceptance is the key to let things go for the while as all the things will never go our way.                 There is always hope for the best when things don't seem to dissolve in you or you yourself cannot dissolve in them.     When you know how to cherish both pain and pleasure, you have learnt how to live life my friend ! Merry Christmas!❤

It's okay to be in love!

Undefined feelings and emotions are all created by us. They do not let us to look at the world from different perspectives but from the same. Like we are trapped in a closed room with a small hole to peep into the outside world. We are the 'chasers' of our inner desires but that's the best thing about us as it keeps us alive. Whenever we look at life differently, we are reborn in the new phase of life! Experiences good or bad remould us. What is your opinion about it?                  Down memory lane, I used to be Philophobic . With time I realised that's it's okay to have selfless emotions, it won't ruin your life or career. Thoughts can be at times intriguing and at times difficult even if the person is with you or not.                                 As teens we are juggling between career, emotions, self image, hormones and even our mem...
